DidacticDumbass
I feel that. I thought it was just me, but it was so hard to just connect to any other instances outside of what flowed in the timeline. When I did it just took me to the website instead of integrating with the instance.
Trying to keep up with the Federated timeline was nauseating, but it also fruitless adding every person with an interesting post.
It sucks. I just don’t like the Twitter format.
It is so miserable and effectively shuts down a major street. People will tolerate the dumbest things just because it is the status quo.
Veganism is a moral philosophy that looks to reduce the suffering and exploitation of all organisms, not just a diet.
Anything can be used as distraction, veganism is not suddenly evil because some assholes adopted and advertise the label.
It is also a mischaracterisation that vegans put the lives of animals over people. It is the case that animals are routinely treated as objects and made to suffer just to satisfy peoples taste buds, or for entertainment, or to wear their corpses. Humans are animals and vegans do not tolerate their suffering or exploitation either.
It is obvious the distraction has worked on you. Veganism does not whitewash anything. People are not stupid. Not everyone is going to risk getting killed by speaking out against atrocities in their own back yard. If they cared they would have done so already.
Linus is stellar example of “good is not nice.”
He will rake you over the coals because he cares about quality and expects better from everyone.
Mastodon has benefitted from news articles and the sheer novelty of an alternative to Twitter, even before Elon Musk bought it out.
Lemmy probably won’t have the same fanfare, especially given the stigma Reddit has, like it was a secret to have an account, or talking about it betrayed you as some weirdo or pervert. Whatever, Reddit never seemed to have the same social acceptance as Twitter or anything Facebook owns.
I think it is good to have a community that is self-filtering. Let’s keep the IQ high on this one (with the exception of me, of course!).
