The only answers you are getting simply reflect popularity.

To answer your question, I think F# is quite good. I use C# more often but F# is more expressive.

Are these real stats? Or just a directional commentary that Lemmy is growing? If they are real, where can we see these?

Lemmyshitpost@lemmy.world does not immediately imply credibility.

The effective community size is bigger. We just need to start figuring out how to harness the overall Lemmy community. The ecosystem will start to take shape as we use it.

You and I are from different communities but I am commenting on your content through the magic of the “front page” via Voyager.

One percent content vs votes. That is a healthier community than you think. The ratio of reads to posts will be even higher.

We just need to create a sustainable level of content while people discover that Lemmy exists,

The biggest problem is “join a server / start a server”. There needs to be a “join any server, still see the best of all communities” option. People come knowing they have heard they should sign-up for Lemmy. They have no idea what server they are looking for. Regardless of what they choose, there needs to be a way of getting a snapshot of “what is happening on Lemmy”. People will self-select and gravitate towards individual communities later.

The magic of places like Reddit was immediate access to a lot of content first and specific content second. People started with Trending before they even knew what a sub was.

Maybe.

I tried the “old Reddit” Lemmy website today. The first thing it asks you for is a URL? What? I just loaded a URL!

I mean, I get it but it is not a great new user experience.

I also use Voyager which makes Lemmy look like Apollo ( the Reddit iOS app ). It is much smarter as it gives you read only content by default. You only get confronted to use a Lemmy server when you go to post. Before that, you can browse, read, and search without logging in or choosing a server. It is a vastly better introduction.

Have you tried Voyager? On my iPhone, it makes Lemmy feel almost exactly like Apollo. You may like it.

I used to go into the Sun lab at my university to download floppy images to take home. Good times.

I remember copying the window manager config files from the Sun workstations and using it on my home computer ( still a 486 if I recall ). What a rush it was just to seeing the screen look the same as those super expensive machines.
