That literally doesn’t make any sense. When Samsung announced it was going to 5 years it didn’t update all the stuff in the past. It’s a new thing starting with the new devices. They might give a little extension to devices still getting updates, but devices that already stopped getting updates are likely to have been upgraded from already and possibly harder to continue supporting.
However, it appears that at least two additional cities have gone live. One confirmed location is Houston, Texas, where Apple Maps now includes a rich 3D with custom-designed views including NRG Stadium, Minute Maid Park, Toyota Center, and Shell Energy Stadium. Apple has also introduced the detailed city experience feature to Dallas, Texas.
Them realizing they can just reuse the chip for the following year’s base model probably felt like such a powerful moment for them. I can’t even argue with them about scumminess, because genuinely the performance increase is so negligible and the A series is already so ahead of the pack that this is honestly helpful.
Apple is trying to find a way to get at least some iPhone 15 buyers to get new chargers from them. However, if it’s limited to Pros, people most likely will already have an Apple branded 35W or higher charger from their Mac or iPad, which a Pro user is more likely to have.
They can’t pull their old shenanigans anymore. They’re not going to be making as much revenue off of their accessories now and will likely have to lean into their services to continue to make endless profit. Lightning cables will ofc still sell for older units, but not anymore for newer ones, trickling out in the next few years.
Id expect an Apple Music price increase soon.
This would absolutely be enough to upgrade, barring some stupid sacrifice like the battery now being half the size or something.
