PlayOn.tv is a service that allows you to record from Netflix and Prime, and several others. I used their old desktop software for years before they moved the whole thing to the cloud and turned it into a service. Give it a try if you like.

I am a collector, and inventory management is always the thing that makes or breaks an RPG for me. Unlimited inventory is just completely unrealistic, but on the other hand, making an RPG inventory completely realistic is just no fun. Of course I want to be able to lug all that sweet loot home, including battle axes, broadswords, several full armor sets, myriad other weapons, potions, etc. Having an encumbrance such as Skyrim has makes total sense to me. I love the idea of being able to sort and filter my inventory, and store items in whatever container I own. I also like to be able to compare the stats of new items with ones I own so I know if something is a trade up.

I hate storage block inventories, where items physically take up one, or a few “squares”. I don’t want to play a tile puzzle with my items.

2004 Suzuki GSX1300R Hayabusa, blue and silver. Bought it new, it was my first bike, and 19 years later it’s still as fast and reliable as it ever was. My wife and I love to go for rides together on it. Nothing else gives us quite the same sense of freedom.

I gladly pay subscriptions for services. I see that the Ultra has cloud backup of settings, but how much storage could that possibly use? Certainly not $2/mo worth. For that price I’ll want the equivalent of 100Gb of storage in the cloud.

edit: I’d send $2/mo. to the admins of my instance. They’re running the servers that host all this content.

Lemmy gives me the same feeling that Reddit did when I first discovered it in 2011. Back before they cared about being profitable and sustainable, when it was a growing community. I don’t know if Lemmy is sustainable or not, but I like the way it feels to be a part of this.

Sync really makes it feel like a seamless transition though. Jerboa is good, but Sync is what I’m used to.
