Placing a Framework 13 on top of another(lemmy.wtf)

When placing a Framework 13 on top of another Framework 13 laptop, the screen will turn off. How come?

The sensor that recognizes if the laptop is closed sits on the left, next to the audio jack. If you get a magnet within 2-3 cm of it, it triggers and the screen turns off. Seems like the magnet in the lid of the other laptop is just close enough.

Seems like a fun prank. Couple strong magnets under someone’s desk and now their desk is cursed. What fun

Yep, there’s a hall-effect sensor in there. My watch band does the same thing to several laptops. Pretty annoying but not really a problem.
