People from some countries probably eat cats, just as some people in China definitely eat dogs, but neither are coming after your pets and there is no real difference between eating cats & dogs and eating pigs/goats/chickens/cows. However if you’re already inside the moral event horizon of thinking it’s okay to murder some sentient creatures for food and your ill-though-out cultural mores say some of those are off limits (just because okay?) I can see why the only real avenue available to you, if you want to be not racist, is to deny that it happens.
