We’re as stuck in a two party system as america, the other guys would have sent in riot police day one.

We absolutely are not. The only reason it may appear that way is due to older generations voting as if it’s a two party system. I believe that a poor understanding of the preferential voting we have is largely to blame for many of the ALP/LNP voters.

Younger generations preference third parties much more, and the first party preference for ALP/LNP is decreasing with each election.

You can’t honestly think our system is anywhere near as bad as thatbof the US when we currently have more third party seats than ever. Hopefully we will have even more next year.

I don’t even believe in an electoral solution, but as Markko said, we are not. Third parties are growing overall with over 30% of the HoR vote and 35% of the Senate vote going to them. With Labor’s betrayals this term on worker rights and foreign policy, I think they’ll be losing votes to third parties instead of the Coalition.

Yes, but who do those parties have to compromise with to make a majority? How many of those parties are just fronts for entitled millionaires?
