Hey ppl,

I really like techwear and would love to connect with others to share knowledge and resources. If I have a look at techwear communities over at reddit or browse shops I see people wearing 2000€ in one outfit. I’m more of a solarpunk and diy person, so my techwear is something like “I got a hoodie from aliexpress for like 6 bucks, a sewing machine and some straps” and get an entire outfit for like 100 bucks including the shoes.

I’d like to connect with others that are into sustainability, recycling and diy, sharing ideas and be wholesome about all that designing and look thing.

Btw cheap from AliExpress is the opposite of sustainable. Almost guaranteed to be the cheapest/most environmentally damaging materials, fabrication, and shipping systems.

Find a quality thrift store in the wider area if you want to maximize every positive, from the higher quality and lower price of the garments to the environmental impact. And you can feel better about cutting up and throwing away material that has already been used rather than buying a whole new hoodie only to dispose of 30% of the fabric.

Look for consignment shops that buy clothes from people rather than thrifts that just accept donations, cuz that’s where people go with their good stuff, but it’s all still cheap.

I agree with you on the sustainability thing and aliexpress. It was an example I did once. Buying thrift shop clothes or get things for free is my main point of getting new-to-me clothes. Thank you.
