So you peg me as a young guy who spends too much time on the internet do you? 🙂 I’m almost flattered.

FWIW I started getting alarmed when Reagan got elected. The sinking feeling that America was headed towards tyranny was confirmed when Dubya signed the USA Patriot act into law, Trump v1 confirmed to me that the American public had gone fully stupid (because Trump really isn’t the problem, but rather a symptom) and Trump v2 confirmed to me that the American idiots are going to get exactly what they voted for: full-on fascism driven by the billionnaire tech bros - the real masters of the Trump puppet.

I’ve been watching the American republic go from not great to completely terrible for a good half century.

Anyway, back to Charlemagne Tha fucking God: the U-turn is so complete and so obviously timed that it’s almost comically obvious that he’s an opportunistic little shit, regardless of what you think of Trump. In fact, if I was MAGA, I would despise johnny-come-latelies like him: just look at how Steve Bannon lashed at Musk and his newfound love of everything MAGA…

I apologize. You’re right, I assumed. Mostly because that’s who I interact with all day on here. I’m glad to have a fellow old-timer in the house!!

I think where our views mismatch is I just don’t think anything has changed much, regardless of who is in office. I mean, the democrats never undo what the republicans do. And republicans rarely do what they say they are gonna do.

So it’s not so much that things haven’t changed for the worse, it’s that no president of either party has worked very hard to reverse bad things.

And since you’ve been around, you’ll also know that everyone thought Trump was gonna destroy us all and get rid of gay people last time he was in office. And that he was a Nazi that was gonna turn us into some White Power nation.

Didn’t happen then. Won’t happen now.

Next election, we’ll vote in a Democrat who will be on the campaign trail promising to undo all the republican shenanigans. And they won’t do it.

Same as it ever was.

I doubt that very much. I think the Democrat will finally understand that they need to one-up the GOP to win the votes of a population of morons and that’s what they’ll do: they’ll join the race to the bottom.

They’ve already started: just look at how many dems flip-flopped on DEI and abortion, and how they *need to work on the issues the Americans care about" since Trump was elected. The snivelling little shits are turning hard right as we speak. It’s pathetic.
