Browsing those content types needs to be an enjoyable experience as well. Mastodon is best used for short text, Pixelfed is good for pictures, Lemmy is for forums/sometimes images and videos. Peertube is an actual video first platform.

Spreadsheets and PDFs could be shared over Mastodon, just like they could be over Xitter. But that doesnโ€™t make it a PDF based platform, or a federated spreadsheet editor. Which seems to be the thing the OP is asking for. A type of media that should be the main focus of a (Fediverse) social media platform.
