No the metrics for freedom aren’t invented by economists but are determined by political scientists. I think you’re demonstrating a common failure in Leftists who are self educated in leftism in that ypu have reactionary responses to situations you aren’t informed on.
What metric are you taking issue with? Self determination is always the biggest one and Chinese citizens do not have this. If the masses wanted to pursue Communism harder and Xi did not (and he does not) they don’t have this option. Not being able to decide the direction of your nation is a significant sign of oppression.
You do not have equivalent rights under the law as gay people because you cannot marry and domestic partner rights are less than married. There is no path to LGB+ marriage. I’m just not as equal in China.
Do we need to address freedom of speech? You have more in most nations than in China.

Do you not see how much of a non-response you gave? It’s a strawman. At no point have I made any untrue statements. Please try to demonstrate how not being able to decide the direction and philosophy of your government in any meaningful manner makes you free.
