I discovered that I was banned from !ukraine@sopuli.xyz for being a “known detriment to the community,” despite never having posted there or even knowing about the community.
A similar situation occurred with !PleasantPolitics@slrpnk.net. This community uses a bot that bans people based on their downvote history, regardless of whether they’ve actually visited the community.
This policy from !PleasantPolitics@slrpnk.net actually caused me some trouble. After moving to a new instance, I stumbled upon this community and decided to post there. The owner then initiated a thread to have me banned across the federation for “ban evasion,” even though I was unaware of any prior ban and had only just learned of the community.
This owner has implemented a bot that automatically bans individuals, only to potentially unban them depending on their upvote/downvote ratio, without considering their actual involvement in the community.
His mod log is a wall of bans. lol
While I’m not usually one for pettiness, I think I would like to return the favor to those mods and pre-ban them from my communities.
However, I’m not sure how to go about doing this. Any tips?
How am I toxic? I don’t advocate for violence. I don’t call anyone names. I don’t post in communities where I’m not welcome.
Obviously, you’re welcome to your opinion, Mr. MyOpinion, but I’d love to know why you consider me “toxic.”
I can totally see how some would be unhappy with news articles that I post because many are not in favor of their preferred candidate. And blocking me does indeed solve that problem.
But I don’t write the articles, and they are from very public, very popular websites.
So “toxic” would seem an odd word to use for that.
Not upset at all. I just want to repay those mods with the same behavior. But I’m not upset about it.
And you thought I was a bot, so how would a bot get upset?
