The US killed more people in Iraq and Afghanistan.

I have no problem with your statement, but unless it applies to the US, I have to wonder why.

Like, is it the skin color of the people Russia killed vs the skin color of the people the US killed?

Probably nobody on earth is responsible for more death then the British empire.

Do you hold the same views of Britain?

Edit: to be clear, I’m not the person that down voted your comment.

EDIT EDIT: I’m downvoting you now when you doubled down on the racism.

  1. Whataboutism.
  2. Commenter said Russian state, not Russian people.
  3. I know you’ll ignore this, but this will help other readers sniff out your bullshit.

  1. Stylist logical fallacy to ever come about solely to justify American war mongering. Use your fucking brain and try to have a memory that lasts longer than 5 minutes.

  2. What do you think happens to the Russian people? America did this in the 90’s when the Russian people were stupid enough to trust America. The average life expectency for Russian men dropped 20 years. Millions died.

I swear to god, Larry Summers is probably the most evil man still alive now that Kissinger is dead. Most horrible things, not associated with war, can be traced back to him.

I honestly have no idea why liberals and conservatives love this racist sexist duck bag. He’s also the one that was heading up Harvard when he stated that women were genetically less capable then men at math and science.

  1. Not bullshit. I just happen to have a functional memory and don’t hate the daily enemy people when my countries media tells me to. You might want to try that, as well as trying to actually remember events that happened longer than 6 months ago.

EDIT: I was going to god the formatting issue, but the Larry Summers bit does stand on it’s own.

You’re fucking insane if you think the US killed over 20 million people worldwide. Stalin alone killed that many in the USSR. Not that I believe for a second that you’re arguing in good faith. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Excess_mortality_in_the_Soviet_Union_under_Joseph_Stalin.

Jesus. You’re just going straight fucking racist here, but you’re too historically ignorant to be aware of it.

I’m guessing it was intentional that you didn’t touch the British empire. There is no analysis you can do that would have any other government kill more people than the British empire. Should TERF Island “Be destroyed by all means short of overt, kinetic war”?

I mean, there is actual continuity between the current British Government and the British Empire. The Russian government doesn’t have anywhere near the same level of continuity.

And I am arguing in good faith. You may not enjoy the cognitive dissonance of having someone point out your obvious racism, but that doesn’t make me not believe you’re a racist that gets off on feeling self righteous. That is something I truly believe.

Just like the US killed far more Iraqi and Afghani’s than Russia killed Ukrainians. SO FAR. That may eventually not be true anymore, but it is an absolute fact now. And facts aren’t a bad faith argument.

You know what is a bad faith argument? Ignoring the points in the comment that you are responding to that prove you’re either wrong or racistly holding a double standard based on … something? That is also something I absolutely believe and am arguing in good faith. Although, I suspect that you don’t actually know what “bad faith” means.

You know what is also a bad faith argument? Calling someone insane for a strawman argument that you made up. I didn’t claim America kill more than 20 million people worldwide. What I did state was that the US kill more Iraqis and Afghani’s than Russia killed Ukrainians. Both were illegal invasions.

You don’t care about justice. Stop pretending you do.

EDIT:
Iraq - Afghanistan: 4 million Vietnam - Korea: 5 million The Jakarta Method: 1 million

There’s at least half of the number that you think justifies destroying a nation that isn’t related to the one you’re talking about.

What percentage of 20 million deaths crosses the threshold you have for countries that should be destroyed?

Not racist to hate Russians, anymore than it’s racist to hate nazis. The race is Slav.

I know people who suffered under the iron curtain, I know Czechs who watched the tanks come through whenever they tried to speak their minds.

If Russia had stayed in their shit country where they belong then everybody would have been happy to pretend they didn’t exist, but they didn’t.

There is absolutely no hope to not have war.

Russia can’t help themselves, they must keep pushing till they reimpose the hell of the soviet union on their neighbors, it is the extension of the moscovy empire above all, and even most Russians hate the ruling power of Moscow.

I welcome your deranged response.

Yes. Keep going. Get to 20 million that Stalin alone killed, at a minimum. I’ll wait. Also, the Bengal Famine had fuck all to do with the United States.

5 million for Russia right there, though in their defense, they’re really trying to pump those numbers up this time.

If only the damn Ukrainians would stop causing so much fuss so they could be properly genocided in a civilized and orderly manner…

You’re getting downvoted but I highly doubt the commenter responded in such a way to the downing of Iranian Air Flight 655. The double standard in international law and selective outrage is a huge part of how these things continue to happen.

Rules:

  • Rule 1: posts have the following requirements:

    • Post news articles only
    • Video links are NOT articles and will be removed.
    • Title must match the article headline
    • Not United States Internal News
    • Recent (Past 30 Days)
    • Screenshots/links to other social media sites (Twitter/X/Facebook/Youtube/reddit, etc.) are explicitly forbidden, as are link shorteners.
  • Rule 2: Do not copy the entire article into your post. The key points in 1-2 paragraphs is allowed (even encouraged!), but large segments of articles posted in the body will result in the post being removed. If you have to stop and think “Is this fair use?”, it probably isn’t. Archive links, especially the ones created on link submission, are absolutely allowed but those that avoid paywalls are not.

  • Rule 3: Opinions articles, or Articles based on misinformation/propaganda may be removed. Sources that have a Low or Very Low factual reporting rating or MBFC Credibility Rating may be removed.

  • Rule 4: Posts or comments that are homophobic, transphobic, racist, sexist, anti-religious, or ableist will be removed. “Ironic” prejudice is just prejudiced.

  • Posts and comments must abide by the lemmy.world terms of service UPDATED AS OF 10/19

  • Rule 5: Keep it civil. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.

Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to “Mom! He’s bugging me!” and “I’m not touching you!” Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.

  • Rule 6: Memes, spam, other low effort posting, reposts, misinformation, advocating violence, off-topic, trolling, offensive, regarding the moderators or meta in content may be removed at any time.

  • Rule 7: We didn’t USED to need a rule about how many posts one could make in a day, then someone posted NINETEEN articles in a single day. Not comments, FULL ARTICLES. If you’re posting more than say, 10 or so, consider going outside and touching grass. We reserve the right to limit over-posting so a single user does not dominate the front page.

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.
