Someone made a post with a picture of a blonde haired blue eyed child. The title was āWould you slap this child for 88 million dollars?ā
I said āSlap!?!?? I would eat that childās still beating heart for 88 million dollars.ā
Next day I log in to find out I had been temp banned for 7 days for sexualization/abuse of a minor.
I uninstalled Reddit. That was 11 days ago and I havenāt been back. Context is important. Obviously, no one is going to offer me 88 million dollars to eat a childās heart. Not to mention, do you really want to make deals with people that can offer that to you? I mean, I wouldnāt.
All this has led me to realize. I donāt want to be part of a community with no sense of humor.
I would post a link but not only was my comment deleted. The thread was too I think.
I read about a similar situation recently ā¦ a thread where people were joking around about NSFW stuff and someone commented āthat guy must be hungā (as in ābig memberā) and got suspended for hate speech / inciting violence because the mod apparently thought they meant āgo hang that guyā (as in execute).
So yes, context matters greatly, especially when dealing with snarky comments and reactions to shitposts, where people usually arenāt as serious.
