Are we supposed to check comment history every time we see some moron that’s bad at satire make a comment that’s identical to actual bootlicker rhetoric?

Nah, only the times when you make definitive statements about comment patterns and the overall quality and nature of the entire account.

You know, the rare occasions where it’s actually what determines whether you have a point or are full of shit and doubling down to avoid having to just admit that the subtle difference between satire and stupidity eluded you 🤷

If you have to point out that you’re doing satire, you’re pretty dogshit at satire.

Or some of the audience didn’t get the joke and doubled down on being right to, as was the case here.

A lot of people thought that A Modest Proposal was sincere and as I mentioned to another of the wooshed complainers, people who didn’t get it share The Onion articles as if they were real news all the time.

If satire is TOO obvious, it loses its edge. If it’s easy to be understood immediately by those actively wanting it to be sincere, it’s not good satire, so I guess you only like bad satire like Babylon Bee or whatever equivalent fits your politics better 🙄

IMPOSSIBLE TO DISTINGUISH FROM THE REAL THING?

Don’t blame the world for your personal failings.

Work Reform

!workreform@lemmy.world

Create post

A place to discuss positive changes that can make work more equitable, and to vent about current practices. We are NOT against work; we just want the fruits of our labor to be recognized better.

Our Philosophies:

  • All workers must be paid a living wage for their labor.
  • Income inequality is the main cause of lower living standards.
  • Workers must join together and fight back for what is rightfully theirs.
  • We must not be divided and conquered. Workers gain the most when they focus on unifying issues.

Our Goals

  • Higher wages for underpaid workers.
  • Better worker representation, including but not limited to unions.
  • Better and fewer working hours.
  • Stimulating a massive wave of worker organizing in the United States and beyond.
  • Organizing and supporting political causes and campaigns that put workers first.
