I bought a piece of 1.5 inch stiff foam to try to fix a sag in a bed. It didn’t work but having that thick piece of solid foam around has been a life saver.
Need something flat to put a laptop on? Throw it on the foam. Going to be doing something that requires you to be on your knees for a while? Get the foam!
It went from stupid purchase to something I’d gladly replace if it broke.

Haha, I knew it would be Hal and the lightbulb before clicking. But I was going for more of a “why do I want tools I don’t need and can barely afford and why do they still make me happy to have them despite that?”.
My last tool purchase was an impact and hammer drill set, though mostly because the best deal at the time came with a hammer drill instead of a non-hammer drill and they can be used for normal drill tasks. I still haven’t used either of those drills 😂. Though I didn’t go broke to get them.
Seems like my comment hit someone’s nerve though.
