People in 3rd world countries/poor people are simply going to eat whatever is available to them.
There is an entire such country with over a billion people in Asia where almost half the population is vegan/vegetarian. I’ll leave you to guess which one. It’s not about price, but rather accessibility. Their entire food economy is centered around it. Modern western diets push meat way more than others.

Just so you know, India is the largest contributor of undernourished people in the world so that fact might complicate the position you’re advocating.
