Maybe itā€™s a Zoomer thing? I donā€™t even see the point in Instagram. I had an account for a bit but realised I had nothing to photograph

My Instagram is 100% pictures of animals. Then once in awhile Iā€™ll scroll back and look at all the cute pups Iā€™ve met over the years.

I canā€™t stand how many ads are on there so I never browse and have no idea how other people use itā€¦

Thatā€™s a great idea! I often feed starlings bites of my Greggs baguette. I never thought I could photograph them for Instagram. šŸ˜€šŸ¦

I love animals and I love taking pictures so when Instagram started I thought itā€™d be a good place to put them. Itā€™s easy to sort photos from a real camera but I find it tedious to do on a phone

But, like, canā€™t you just use Google photos or something comparable for that?

People get small dopamine hits when they see their social media posts get points.

Also I think Instagram is primarily used by millennials

I meanā€¦ if you never take photos or donā€™t like looking at them, itā€™s not surprising you donā€™t have a use for it or pixelfed.

Yes, itā€™s fantastic: https://pixelfed.social

Hereā€™s the devā€™s links:

I can lose hours just browsing everyoneā€™s nature photography.

If youā€™re on iOS, decent apps for it are Tusker and Vernissageā€¦ and maybe Mona or Ivory, but they arenā€™t built for it so the compatibility has a snag here and there.

Tusker uses a traditional Mastodon interface, while Vernissage is minimal-first with a main view of just photos with nothing else.
