I have no clue what could have gone wrong as it was working fine last night but now it’s doing this. Any solution other than data recovery and a new hard drive ?

If the drive is in an enclosure there’s a slim chance the enclosure is what failed. More likely though it’s a hardware failure.

Seagate makes a utility called SeaTools for running diagnostics on drives.
