It seems to have entered into Judaism about 50 or so BCE where it was attributed to Rabbi Hillel who has some superficial resemblance to the Jesus of Matthew.

Not my logic. I am pointing out the train of thought coming from St. Augustine in City of God onward. It is better to kill a hertic and give them a chance at heaven vs letting them live and they get no chance.
