Why is this down voted so much? I don’t really have a use case for it, but seems like a decent tool to securely get a single Password from a person with whom you don’t plan to set up a more private way of communication.

i’m guessing it’s because the link was posted with no context, no opinion, no nothing.

perhaps if op explains what the link goes to and why it’s a good thing, people might click it and actually engage?

i didn’t downvote, but i do understand the sentiment!

I don’t know, a lot of haters in Lemmy. Retriver is a good tool, a good system to share sensible informations, FOSS. Maybe not so important for occidental users, but for sure for users in countries with restrictive govs.

You could have explained this in the post description, so people would think about it for a minute.

No explanation in the post makes it look like spam/click bait.

Downvote it is.

Sorry, not sorry.

And even if it isn’t technically spam, it acts like spam in that it reduces the quality of the community by adding noise with no information, no context. Just one more thing to scroll past.

Then you double down by calling us ‘haters’.

Fine - I’m a hater. I hate low-value garbage posts like this.

Frankly, screw you and your name calling.

Secure secret sharing through the browser using web crypto. No server required.

Look, even with a sketch

What more do you need to know? This is exactly what this tool does. It’s free, FOSS, no account and a tool which fits well in “Privacy”. Calm down, it’s healthy to do so.
