Welcome to v1.0.0 of Summit.

This updates marks the point where Summit should be feature complete and customizable enough to be used as a daily driver for a good portion of users. This update also marks the point where the core experience of Summit should be fully fleshed out now.

That being said, there are still a huge amount of features on the roadmap and each of those features can be considered important or core to a particular user. If what you consider core has not been implemented yet, please let me know what that feature is in the comments!

This update is massive. I’ve tried my best to keep track of every single change but I may have missed some.

Changelog

  • Added a secret feature (it’s in comment list settings)
  • Added theme picker. Since no one suggested any themes yet I only added 2 themes for now: Red and Blue. I will add more themes in the future as people suggest them.
  • Added filter bar in your communities pane.
  • Added “add link” dialog to comment and post views.
  • Improve look for large list view and card 3.
  • Added a setting to have single tap on a thumbnail within the post list open the image viewer. When this setting is enabled, long tapping the thumbnail will expand the post.
  • Added option to set a gesture as “None”. Doing so exclude that gesture slot. Eg. Setting gesture 2 and 3 as “None” will make it so the only swipe action is gesture 1.
  • Added option change the width of gesture actions as a percentage of the width of the screen
  • Added card 3 (header is below the image with the title at the top)
  • Added large list layout (like card but without the card)
  • Added a setting to change the global font color. Choose between Calm (recommended) which are text colors optimized to reduce eye strain and High Contrast which uses pure whites/blacks.
  • Added sort order picker into the top bar. When infinite scrolling is on, the current sort order will be displayed in the top bar
  • Removed the link button for image/video posts. The link button for these posts is redundant as you can open the link with other means.
  • Added a setting to always show the link button.
  • Added Patreon page to the app.
  • Added button to share a link to the post/comment on it’s home instance
  • Better communicate the tab system of Summit while also adding additional navigation options. Demo: https://youtu.be/N2TjuyGK1D8
  • Changed: Set client sided defaults for posts and comments sort order
  • Changed: Long tapping on the image of a post will now mark that post as read.
  • Changed: Optimized some network calls. Overall network calls made by the app should be even lower now.
  • Fixed a bug where tapping on the setting button besides an account would not open the account settings.
  • Fixed a bug where the history tracker would show the wrong instance for All, Local or Subscribed feeds.
  • Fixed a bug that prevented comments gestures from being changed
  • Fixed a bug where the screen sometimes flickers when a post is tapped.
  • Fixed a bug where the keyboard would obstruct content
  • Fixed a bug where text fields would not retain their text on rotation
  • Fixed a bug where changing the size of gestures causes a crash.
  • Fixed more crashes
  • Fixed more UI bugs

It is disabled, what exactly does this aim to fix anyway?

Well, this is how it looks for me. I think it looks slightly different, and my animation was more like yours before.

Maybe because I am using cards2 view?

And now you know I have the compatibility mode enabled, so there’s that too.

I wonder if the animation you saw in the last update was actually a bug and it was fixed this update, causing the animation to show correctly.

The “old animation” is all that I had since I got this app, it only looked different until now.

There was a user that was experiencing some really bizzare bugs. It’s odd that it’s disabled but you still notice a difference. Would it be possible to show me a recording of what the transition looks like? I’ll also try to reproduce it on my end.

Wait, it is actually enabled!

I remember I saw it but didn’t enable it because I didn’t know what this was for, but I can’t disable it, it re-enables automatically.
