…and here I am enjoying a nice and steady 300 mbps, thinking: “Why on earth I’d want to improve it to almost 20 times more, when its already fast enough to load most content in less than a fraction of a second?”.

I’m content with 100MBPS myself. It’s fast enough to load sites nigh instantaneously. I don’t have a lot of hiccups. It downloads things reasonably well.

I would rather be on 100MBPS than the times where, I wasn’t. Like I remember dial-up, 33kbps. I remember shitty ass DSL 768kbps. I remember local “broadband” of 1 ~ 5MB.

If I got anything less than 100MBPS, then I’d be discontented. The only way I’d be even more content is probably being on your level or 250MBPS at least. Why would I need gigabit connectivity? It sounds like something I’d need, if I was like a business or having multiple people around. I’m only one person though.

I got unlimited, synchronous 1 Gbps a year ago and I agree that for day-to-day applications it’s not much different from the 250 Mbps I was getting from Comcast. There are a few noteworthy exceptions for me: (1) It’s much easier to maintain a good torrent ratio (2) Large backups, like system images, to the cloud are much more feasible now. (3) Comcast limited me to 1.2 Tb a month which sounds like a lot until you realize how quickly you can kill that downloading modern games.

In general I think less about my internet service now. It’s not at all life changing but it’s nice.

Had to get gigabit to lower our bill. We’ve had unlimited, but like you said, games are huge nowadays. Me from a decade ago wishes I spent more on internet back then.
