My mother-in-law worked in a similar position. It’s fucking hilarious because if I’m around at a family thing at all and politics gets brought up, she’s all like “we don’t talk about that stuff, hush!” Because she knows I’ll say something. The family knows I’m “left-leaning” but most don’t know just how far to the left.

But meanwhile, if she’s around just her daughter, my actually gay wife(MiL doesn’t know she’s bi) my MiL will just be like “I think the gays shouldn’t exist and trans people should get it worse.”
