Two Ukrainian servicemen were stabbed to death at a shopping center in southern Germany Saturday evening, by a suspected Russian national, German and Ukrainian authorities say.

German police say a 36-year-old man died on the scene in the city of Murnau, and a 23-year-old man died later that evening at a nearby hospital.

Both Ukrainian men were residents of the district of Garmisch-Partenkirchen and had been in Germany undergoing medical rehabilitation.

A 57-year-old suspected Russian national was arrested at his home not far from the scene, according to German authorities.

A criminal investigation is underway for the suspected double murder.

Not necessarily (though of course possible). In germany we have lots of people of russian descent. While amongst the younger generation some (not all by a long shot) may be more west oriented, the older ones are usually only consuming russian national media and dont like to engage with german media at all. Thus some people can be influenced to be aggressive towards ukraine. I have seen ukrainian flags ripped off and a glas display for ukrainian refugee support being shattered around the area where the russian descendants of our city live. While in my case that isnt much, It certainly shows aggression. But i also have to say that most are peaceful. It does however exist in a minority.

Well, ripping down a flag is not peaceful. It’s certainly not violence.

At the same time, I would be tempted to tear down a Trump flag or possibly even a Russian flag if they were in my vicinity.

I frequently rip down and throw out Trump signs. I don’t consider it a crime to remove symbols of hate from my community.
