Someone else further down even pointed out that it was actually the British that strapped people to cannon muzzles to execute them, not the DPRK

Iirc the br*ts chose that execution method as a way to disrupt burial rites which required the entire body. So it wasn’t just an over the top brutal execution but a way to punish the victims even in death
