Man I can’t wait until I can see this movie. Any news on whether there will be screenings outside the US?
At this point the Marketing is his name. Well respected director and last movie? Sign me up
I mean, it’s Miyazaki, marketing would be overkill
I never thought I wouldn’t give a shit about an Indiana Jones movie, but here we are.
I was thinking this as well. Action adventure films like it were what got me into filmmaking, yet even I have less than no desire to see it. It’s actually pretty incredible how badly they missed the mark; the trailer just needed open up with Harrison Ford in costume saying something like “why is it always snakes?” followed immediately by the theme blasting up over an action montage. Instead, they chose to show a group of old men talking seriously in a bar, while some utterly stock sounding music underscores it. What were they thinking?
Marketing a Miyazaki film is just redundant. It sells itself.
You could say that for a lot of films, hell you could even say that trailers make things worse by spoiling things (which is why they didn’t here), and yet studios still spend ridiculous sums on marketing.
I guess they feel that they need to do it for some (crappy) movies, so they have to do it for all of them. Otherwise it would be more obvious which movies are crap, because they’re marketed more.
Crazy, that’s the power of a respected name in the industry.
