Damn. You knew it was coming. From progressive policy stances to no longer supporting single payer healthcare and more.

The health care plan she rolled out that July stopped short of completely eliminating private insurance. Instead, it would have shifted the US to a government-backed health insurance system by transitioning to a Medicare-for-All-type system over 10 years and continuing to allow private insurance companies to offer Medicare plans.

What they actually said, which is a reasonable path forward

Sounds like two steps forward and two steps back.

Getting downvoted because I don’t think that taking a decade to implement a half-measure sounds like progress. XD

I hear what you’re saying, but any progress on universal healthcare has been at a standstill forever. Although it feels slow, it’s the right direction and might just be the way it needs to happen with all the corporate interests and red tape in the massively profitable healthcare industry.

So I don’t necessarily see it as a standstill, but baby steps.

Am I missing something? There is nothing new in the article. It’s just contrasting Harris’ Senate record and 2020 primary stances with the pragmatic political compromises that the Biden-Harris administration has made over the past 3.5 years because they had to deal with getting things through Congress. Of course the compromises made with Congress are going to be more to the right than what Harris has previously advocated for as her ideal stances, that’s what politics is…

How dare she operate within the confines of the democratic system as best she can to slowly make progress towards her goals instead of challenging each republican in congress to a Fight to the Death in order to usurp their positions and pass the idealized bill herself!

You’re joking, but I would absolutely vote for a politician that’s willing to throw hands in Congress to save people from the American healthcare system.

How is backing away from single-payer healthcare supposed to make her more popular in battleground states? It truly boggles my mind as a Canadian. I can’t imagine paying like $15k per year for bottom-of-the-barrel coverage and thinking that’s better than paying nothing at the point of service, not having to call anybody, and never getting a bill.
