I do feel stupid for feeling this. India is currently on fire and also flooding iirc, by contrast here in it’s not much hotter than recent years. I am lucky enough that we have a portable AC to run in the bedroom.
It’s not the literal heat, our room is an ok temp honestly. But the heat seems to be breaking down my joints and bones, I feel like a decrepit corpse weighted with lead rn. This is the first time I’m feeling this too, didn’t happen last year so my body is maybe decaying again.
I think it’s heat exhaustion, I am making sure to drink and stuff but I just feel sluggish and sore, I am scarfing ibuprofen to little avail. Weh!
isn’t every room you’re in automatically hot?
I just arrived Wuhan, China last night and it’s 30°C lowest. 03:00 I got up and it was 30°C. It’s currently 38°C.
I woke up yesterday morning to -3°C while on my way to the airport.
My cursed flesh body really doesn’t like that temperature swing.
The air con is set to 28°C (you know, to save money) which is quite pleasant compared to 38°C and 65% humidity outside, but 2 days ago in Australia my heater was set to 26°C.
If I didn’t live with white people I’d just wear more layers at home, it turns out the average Australian Anglo deals with the cold by way of ruining the planet some more.
my heater was set to 26°C.
26C = 78.8F
Are you fucking insane
In my Florida apartment we usually did heat to 68 and AC to 78, which is 20C and 26C. That was the highest we could set the AC to that I wasn’t just sweating 24/7.
The white people I live with turn the heat up really high, idk why. I’m prepared to wear layers like a normal person but someone insists on having T shirt weather indoors in the middle of winter (hint: it’s a white person from Queensland)
Uhh, like inside or outside temps? I would hope you have AC in Wuhan of all cities right?
In the short term, cold showers and wet clothes are useful. Longer term I’ve found that a bit cardio helps massively with heat tolerance after a week or so. I mean the difference between 21 feeling warm before and 23 feeling chilly after a solid week of cardio.
I hate anything above 25° fuck off sun and dead air. Gimme some rain, how the heck am I gonna wash my neck if it ain’t gonna rain no more?
I finally had the time and money to get an AC unit. Stayed up late only to find it doesn’t fit, so malding a bit as well at the moment.
Damn that sucks… ACs are really poorly equipped for the variety of windows in houses.
They have portable AC units that uses a a pipe to blow the hot air out through a narrow slot in your window, so it will fit any window.
the one-pipe types are awful though, they create negative pressure inside the house, which means the house will immediately start sucking hot air in through every crack.
do not go lower than two-pipe portable ACs
