Is it possible to block bots? I see a ton of archival bots that repost content from reddit. No one interacts with these posts and I don’t care to see them. I have tried using the block user function, but it doesn’t seem to do anything. I’m not sure if this is a lemmy issue or a Connect issue. When I go to the bot profile page, it always times out. I’m assuming that is because there are so many posts from the bots. Anyone else have any experience with this?

You have to refresh after blocking a user or community for it to take effect

You can choose whether to show bots or not, in your Lemmy account settings…👍🏻

If you don’t want to see any bots, turn off “show bots” in Lemmy settings? There are also ways to block users, if it’s just certain bots. Or also you can block specific communities. Right?

I just blocked the TIL bot in Lemmy Connect, and it has stayed gone, along with everything else I’ve blocked. If neither way is working for you, I have no other advice. Sorry.

You know, I didn’t realize you could block from the post. I was clicking on the bot and trying to block from the profile. Blocking from the post works. Thank you. That was my dumb. However, you also mentioned about a setting to not show bots. Is that accessible through connect or do you have to do web? I don’t see the setting.

As far as I know, that has to be done on the web. I haven’t seen any way in any other settings menu.

(I hope the screenshots are helpful!)
