I love Led By Donkeys, and fuck Liz Truss and any Tory, but why are they wasting their resources on an ex-ex-PM who isnโ€™t even in parliament anymore? Itโ€™s not like weโ€™ve exactly run out of serving donkeys to targetโ€ฆ

I canโ€™t imagine it cost that much to do it, it also puts the focus on her work trying to get Trump elected, and reminds everyone (or even informs Americans) of what she did. I assume LBD are also trying to help derail the Trump campaign.

I guess, but as far as I know, theyโ€™re funded by donations (and are meant to be focused on UK politics, not US), so itโ€™s not like theyโ€™ve got a bunch of cash to splash about, and I really donโ€™t think Truss is worthy of them wasting any resources on, sheโ€™s best left to be ignored by history as the failure that she was, not kept relevant when she really isnโ€™t.

I get that sheโ€™s easy and enjoyable to make fun of, but even if it is about indirectly targeting trump, and they really do want to influence not only local but global politics, there are much better targets.

But hey, not my money, not my choice, just my personal opinionโ€ฆ ยฏ\(ใƒ„)/ยฏ

Why are they meant to be focussed on anything, do they have a manifesto which says they only do that? They have done stunts related to Trump before (when he was in the UK), so this isnโ€™t out of their modus operandi.

Truss has kept herself active politically, so sheโ€™s fair game. She hasnโ€™t been held to account for what she did, and she hasnโ€™t allowed herself to be ignored by maintaining her grift.

Iโ€™m a donor to Led By Donkeys and I fully support this action. The election of Trump would be bad news for both our countries, and all the other ones, and anything that recalls how terrible the last government was in the minds of the British public is constructive.

Iโ€™m a relatively-informed American (or at least, I try to be) but Iโ€™m drawing a blank here. What did she do again?

she crashed the economy by saying she was going to reduce taxes on the rich, so much so the bank of England had to step-in to shore up bonds.

She was British prime minister for a few weeks. She was booted out because her โ€˜strategyโ€™ to โ€˜revampโ€™ the British economy crashed it extremely quickly.

Became Prime Minister, crashed the economy with Kwasi Kwarteng, killed the Queen, then said it wasnโ€™t her fault and that they should have gone further with their mini-budget. Now sheโ€™s a Trumpette.

Like I said, not my money, not my decision, but none of that will change the fact that I think theyโ€™re wasting their time and money on someone who needs to be removed from the public eye, not continued to be made relevant, and that there are people much more worthy of LBDโ€™s attention.

Because theyโ€™re centrist liberals, and attacking Starmer for not rejoining the EU or forcibly redistributing oligarchsโ€™ mansions to the Unhoused or whatever isnโ€™t in their agenda.

Maybe once the Tory kakistocrats have shuffled into their tarpit, theyโ€™ll start going after the Brexit elephant in the room, helping to push public opinion into rejoining the EU and drag Starmer along with it.

Blame who you like, Brexit was an epic own goal. As was trump.

Vast, highly organised resources were behind both. Itโ€™s depressing that the voting public was so easily deceived, but the volume of propaganda behind both Brexit and Trump was extraordinarily high.

Because those Americans might not know who they are listening to. Itโ€™s in our interest that American doesnโ€™t listen to people who tank economies. The world is very interconnected.

Those who care, already looked her up, those who donโ€™t, wonโ€™t pay any more attention because of this.

Oh yep, donโ€™t forget her bullshit about a woke UK deep state she said on her way out. Give it another 3 years and sheโ€™ll have dropped to the level of headline guest at conspiracy conventions.

And the UK tax payer is forking out for her retirement with ex-PM pension she can now draw from! New rule, youโ€™ve got to at least make it 1 year as PM before you qualify for the ยฃ100k a year pension.

UK Politics

Create post

General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please donโ€™t post to both !uk_politics@feddit.uk and !unitedkingdom@feddit.uk .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think โ€œreputable news sourceโ€ needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

!ukpolitics@lemm.ee appears to have vanished! We can still see cached content from this link, but goodbye I guess! :'(
