I found a Specialized Allez Sport (2014) that a bike shop is pricing at $425. It has rim brakes and downtube shifters.

Is this a decent deal?

I don’t know but here’s what this site says:

https://www.bicyclebluebook.com/value-guide/2014 Specialized Allez Sport/?condition=VERY_GOOD

$141 - $230 USD, in very good condition

Maybe it has some nicer after market component upgrades?

Ah thanks. I guess I won’t be buying it then.

This is my first bike since I was a kid so I don’t know what after market add-ons they made. It’s weird b/c this bike shop has a good reputation for being fair. I wonder what they were thinking behind that pricing.

Yah, a good reliable local shop is really helpful. Talk to this one, find out why they think this bike is worth that price. If you think their answer makes sense, go for it. If not, keep shopping around!

could be your location, could be demand. take a look at your local craigslist or fb marketplace and see how much comparable bikes are going for.
