Since many in this community have a habit of resorting to personal attacks when responding to posts recently, I’ll say this: I support and respect everyone’s right to vote for who they want to.

I’m just posting this article that’s already available on a much bigger platform than Lemmy—I didn’t write it, just sharing it for discussion.

She’s irrelevant. The only thing to discuss is why she keeps trying to divide the left and not actually accomplish anything.

She’s irrelevant

Well she sure is making a lot of Lemmy users and democrats mad, so she must not be that irrelevant.

It’s possible to be irrelevant and infuriating at the same time.

So you acknowledge that’s what she does? Split the left?

No, you are the one making people mad. And since it’s a fuck ton of people, you’re probably the problem. But I know realizing that would take an ounce of self reflection, which you don’t have.

Pointing out how a moral stance leads to actual outcomes isn’t a personal attack. You’re not a victim here.

I never said it was. But calling me an idiot and a troll are personal attacks. I’m fine with people disagreeing. It’s the name-calling that is out of line.

You are fine with people disagreeing because making people mad makes you giddy. I’ve suggested therapy and I still do.

"Don’t Fall for the Third-Party Trick

A progressive who stays home on Election Day — or backs Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Cornel West, or No Labels — is voting for Donald Trump."

"Progressives should not make the same mistake that Ernst Thälmann made in 1932. The leader of the German Communist Party, Thälmann saw mainstream liberals as his enemies, and so the center and left never joined forces against the Nazis. Thälmann famously said that ‘some Nazi trees must not be allowed to overshadow a forest’ of social democrats, whom he sneeringly called ‘social fascists.’

After Adolf Hitler gained power in 1933, Thälmann was arrested. He was shot on Hitler’s orders in Buchenwald concentration camp in 1944."

Yet voting for her may ensure the most anti-Palestinian outcome: A Trump presidency.

Hold ideals, but vote pragmatically.

Exactly. Fix the voting system first, and then start voting for good third party candidates.

I recently heard a phrase I really like: “Vote with your protest boots on”. Because let’s face it—the Harris campaign will not do the right thing on their own. They need to be pressured until they have no other option. So vote but make sure that’s the least thing you are doing.

Trump will not do the right thing no matter what. It’s just not in his character, and his political coalition won’t allow it anyway. I expect attempts to pressure him will be met with extreme violence.
