A blissful early morning Stankening. The Frio edge is showing first signs of wear after 24 uses. Still comfortable, but the smooth bliss phase is at an end.

I tend to just want a new edge somewhere between 12 and 15 uses. I’m convinced that most razors can easily go 30-40 uses with a good starting edge and reasonable care with stropping.
somewhere between 12 and 15 uses
That sounds about right. But it makes me wonder whether recommending straight razors to people who don’t want to hone themselves in mean 😬
Luckily, Koraats have among the most durable edges I know.

- Brush: AP Shave Co. - 24mm Synbad Fan
- Razor: MMOC Gen 2
- Blade: Personna GEM PTFE (1)
- Lather: Barrister & Mann/Zingari Man - Nocturne - Soap
- Post Shave: Aqua Velva - Ice Blue - Aftershave
I shaved last night so I could head out the door early this morning. I wanted a super close shave that’ll last me until late afternoon, and the MMOC did a great job.
I was also inspired by @DaveWave94 (sorry, tagging is a missing feature in Jerboa), but had better luck than him with a fresh PTFE blade. I’ve definitely had rough first shaves, but as I gain experience I’m starting to blame it on technique.
(sorry, tagging is a missing feature in Jerboa)
Voyager has it implemented pretty well, even with touch-friendly links, but I still forget to tag people properly often 😅
Glad to hear that the fresh GEM treated you well. I think it was a multitude of factors that led to my very rough shave, including carelessness/rushing on my part. The MMOC is a really great razor, super efficient and (usually) comfortable to handle. No fault on it.
I hadn’t used Voyager forever, but completion is really well implemented there. I may consider abandoning Jerboa…
Granted, Voyager isn’t perfect. But like Jerboa, it’s also free, open source and available on F-Droid too.
I have used quite a few Lemmy Apps - Jerboa, Eternity, Thunder and now finally Voyager. Out of all these, I like Voyager best. It has true AMOLED dark themes, tons of customisation, gesture control (although swiping for upvotes and replies is kinda fidgety with my big fingers) and touch-friendly links (nice for big fingers and ADHD brains). Also, from all of these it is the easiest app to write PMs to anyone, like right now with our BVWSC activities. E.g. Thunder doesn’t even have a PM function 🤔
I’d say try it out, give yourself time to adjust and familiarise with the new app and see how it works for you. I’m far from a pro user of it, but if any questions arise you can always shoot me a message and I’ll gladly try to help!

2 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.
Great scent on this trifecta. There’s an slight underlying smokiness to it that’s not in the notes but that I really enjoy.
