I know memories are tiny and all that, but has the concept of mutually assured destruction completely left the “journalist” class’s brains? They do understand China and the US both have ICBMs and thus any aggression from either side may well escalate to thermonuclear war and the complete destruction of the earth… right? Like, everyone knows this. So when you type out anything along the lines of “prepare for US war against China” you’re also writing “prepare for nuclear holocaust.”
This warmongering against China is completely deranged and if I were writing a fictional book, which I am, a completely fictional and made up book, one of the fictional characters protected under the first amendment (allegedly) would advocate, again, in a book, that anyone with a meaningful “platform”, Chinese citizen or American, who instigates war between the two countries be summarily executed. A couple Fox News idiots and Elon Musk, in a book, being shot live on tv would be far preferable to whatever the fuck is happening. These pieces of dogshit aid the military and CIA in every. Single. War and whatever else bad and nothing or very little ever happens to them. A fictional character seeks to change that.
Do you know what is deranged? Westerners calling close the sky and bomb Russia knowing fully that Russia has the highest nukes in the world along with hypersonic glider vehicle.
They are so used to war being something that happens There and not Here that they cannot comprehend it actually affecting them. War happens on TV or in the arms manufacturer’s bank accounts, not at home.
They also probably believe their own propaganda that Russia is so outdated that none of their arsenal would work.
We have to realize that the oligarchy is deranged and would rather slaughter the planet then give up even a fraction of their power. They think they will safety slip away to their bunkers in Africa and the Nordic countries where they expect to live like small lords, paying off what little is left of humanity to serve them.

Armchair specialists: China and the USA will fight to the death!
Reality: USA will bomb Taiwan back to the stone age before China can retake control of it.
I’m not even sure the US can bomb Taiwan, it’s so close to the shore that the PLA can defend it pretty efficiently I would think.
The US also officially recognises Taiwan as part of China, too, right? So if the US bombs Taiwan, that’s essentially declaring war on China. It’ll be gearing to get China to do the bombing but China won’t fall for it. All it has to do is wait it out. Meanwhile, the US is fighting itself, the planet, and most of the world for its own survival. Edward Gibbons’ History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire will be turned into a movie to be played around Hallowe’en in the US within the next few years.
They recognize that there can only be one united China yes, so if they attacked Taiwan it would be considered an attack on the PRC. They’re so slimy they would probably refuse the one china principle and declare the ROC something weird like “Non-administered territory” or something, like Bush did for “enemy combatant” which has become accepted in common discourse 20 years later it’s crazy.
But likewise the PRC considers Taiwan to be theirs and would defend it. They also consider the people living in Taiwan to be their citizens, so I assume they would organize evacuations of the island in case of war. They probably have plans drawn up already to make it efficient. As for the ROC army… they would disband in 48 hours tops lol.
It’s not really WW2, you can just have planes, subs, or ships launch missiles from 100km out. You can’t intercept them all, or many of them for that matter.
There are systems to intercept missiles in flight, the US has the Patriot for example. Taiwan also conveniently sits around 100 miles (160km) of the mainland, not far at all to be deploying ships, planes and other defense systems from the shore.
China has one major advantage too, hypersonic* missiles.

They spend the whole paper outling the incredible levels of US military pollution, while simultaneously defending it with fantastical chauvinist arguments. A truly insane juxtaposition.
Don’t assume the readers/hearers of the propaganda all believe it. The military must maintain recruitment numbers and they’ll spend a lot of money to do so. So we’ll hear a lot about how great they are. The DOD even spends a lot of time and money providing props and such for Hollywood movies. They even help edit the scripts to ensure the US military isn’t put in a bad light.
It’s not that the brainrot runs deep. It’s more that the propaganda does. Don’t blame the people for the stuff they didn’t consent to.
On one hand yeah, USians are the most propagandized people on Earth. But on the other hand, they’re not that dumb. Recruitment rates are falling for a reason, everyone knows what the military is really for and what it’s doing abroad. The people that enlist are generally those who come from military families or who want the benefits.
Sorry if I don’t sympathize with those who are ok with subjugating/murdering other people for their career. Or to make Dad proud or whatever
