This is a great way of explaining why I hate body positivity so much (I’m very glad body neutrality is becoming more of a thing). I’m so tired of people telling me to love the broken shell I inhabit, or telling me that it’s beautiful. Fuck that.

That is interesting. I have a friend with body dismorphia. I think there are different kinds of body dismorphia, and in his case, I trully do not think it represents reality. He is muscular, gym kind of physique, but he hates a certain part of it. I love the part that he hates, and I express it often. I wonder if I am doing the wrong thing? Should I be doing something else?

He should love himself not his body.

Oh, sure, I agree with that, 100%. But when he tells me “I hate my X, look at them, so bad”, it feels wrong to just say “Oh, you should love yourself, not your body”.

Good point. I will probably buy an ice-cream machine just to do this.

Okay okay so maybe being vegan and being forced to pay like 10 times the price of ice-cream where I live has something to do with it too.
