I’m not gonna lie, this “dumb phone” is awkwardly close to how my daily driver has looked for the better part of a decade.

I don’t think Dumb Phone means what they think it means.

How is it dumb if it is running LOS?

Lmao “I didn’t install the Google Play Store so my phone is now a minimalist dumbphone” ???

Probably “dumb” in the sense it doesm’t actively spy on you. Which is a god-awful definition of dumb.

Personally, I’d go with non-malicious, shortened to non-mal which basically loops back to “normal”.

I know, right? I guess they mean “free of distracting bloat”.

So its lineage OS with a minimalist launcher. This is click bait.

I mean, it’s on HowToGeek, so I’ll generously think of it as onboarding another few people to custom ROMs…

“made” is doing a lot of heavy lifting here, they “modified” it.

Yeah, the honest title would be “I evicted Google and I can just use my phone like I want now”.

I “made” a “dumb phone” like that too, using a normal Android, Universal Android Debloater, FDroid, Fossify and the Simple Launcher.

For my next project, I’ll turn my laptop into a typewriter by disconnecting the WiFi.

Sounds low effort! The real way of turning your laptop into a typewriter, of course, is to install Linux without a desktop environment and run an editor from command line /s

At least the author of the article could be arsed flashing a custom ROM 😉
