Summary

Donald Trump’s second inauguration drew an estimated 24.6 million television viewers, the lowest audience for a presidential inauguration since Barack Obama’s second in 2013.

Viewership declined compared to Joe Biden’s 2021 inauguration (33.8 million) and Trump’s first in 2017 (30.6 million).

Fox News led coverage, averaging 10.3 million viewers during the swearing-in and speech, while other networks saw smaller audiences.

It was unlikely to make for scintillating television.

Unless somebody Guy Fawkes’d the lot of them, it’s just hours of footage of people signing bits of paper.

“It was the BIGGEST TV AUDIENCE EVER!!” - Sean Spicer, probably

But really, how many people still watch TV?

I saw that shit on Disney plus.
Immediately cancelled my sub.
Kids can have Bluey from the warships on the ocean 🦜☠️.

I’d like to support content creators. They work hard, deliver their dream. And early on, a large delivery network is desirable! But if that provider enshitifies beyond my threshold, they are dead to me.

So set sail!

Hulu advertised this today. Like… What the fuck? How much did the oompa loopa pay you, Disney? They know we don’t want to watch this.

I saw that shit on Disney plus.

What, and I mean this will all my soul, the actual fuck?

I don’t give a single wet shit who the president is, why in the chocolate covered fuck is a streaming media content platform pushing that shit? Really glad I never gave them any money, and the subscription we had always a friend’s.

They also live streamed the debates, so this isn’t unusual for Disney. I think they have some live channels as well, so it probably falls under that portion of the service.

The fact that it’s streaming on Disney+, while not surprising, is disgusting.

I didn’t know it was on Disney+. That’s interesting. It really shows how the TV landscape is shifting away from broadcast.

Fuck Trump, but I think it sorta makes sense for the new “networks” to carry live events like this as we move to all-digital.

Back in the day, when over the air was the main option, it was good that things like this were put in front of people. I still think things like this should be put in front of people.

And I’ll reiterate: fuck Trump.

Just wait. There will be mergers and buyouts like you have t seen in your lifetime the next 4 years. Verizon/Comcast/Meta, Disney(abc, Hulu, ESPN, Pixar), Twitter/Fox/tiktok, etc.

Nah every inauguration is inane drivel not worth anyones time, its solidly in the F tier unless someone gets shot. If they want to make it more interesting have them cut off one of their fingers on their dominant hand as part of the oath, if they arent able to do it themselves someone else will chop off the hand with an axe.
