I may be American and only speak English, but the question of “where are you from?” is still perfectly understandable.
It’s kinda wild how well our brains are able to figure out what’s happening from body language and the half of the conversation we get, and can just fill in the blanks of the other half.
Deres kultur (dvs. den som kom etter at urfolkskulturen ble utryddet eller undertrykt) er allerede flere hundre år gammel, så hvorfor er det fortsatt så mye oppmerksomhet rundt det påståtte opphavet?
Because it’s still a significant proportion of what they have.
They know of their connection to an interesting looking land that contrasts strongly with the relentless flatness of the Midwest/North. That’s gonna make an impression and create some kind of lingering longing in a lot of people. They also seem to not have actually developed much of a distinct culture, with the exception of their part in the broader Internationalized American culture.
