A uniquely American concept

sadly not -

https://www.theguardian.com/business/2022/sep/25/schools-in-england-warn-of-crisis-of-heartbreaking-rise-in-hungry-children

https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/politics/keir-starmer-says-uk-cant-30401913

and it’s probably not just us either.

Better title would be “A uniquely capitalist concept”

The disgusting thing is that it works out to be about $8.73 per child. I’m so glad my home state instated free school lunches for every child regardless of means. That’s the way it should be: a child goes to school, and while they are there, they are given healthy food without charging their families. That’s what taxes are for! If there’s not enough money, tax corporations more!
