Just tried the 7 day free trial of Photoshop and deleted it like 10 minutes later because it was so awful. Here are some highlights:
- AI, so much AI.
- Advertising, so much advertising.
- Why yes we steal your data.
- $40 a month for the cheapest option.
- "If you cancel your subscription you will no longer be able to use Photoshop. No, there is no way to own the product outright.
- Why yes we will include a bunch of programs and cloud services that you don’t want and will never use. No, there is no plan that is just Photoshop.
- Sign in to your Adobe account to uninstall.
Download an abandonware version or the last released non-cloud version.
Use a VPN before downloading via bittorrent.

Here is a direct download page, no torrenting required. Adobe Photoshop 2025 with a DRM crack. You may need to disable microsoft defender temporarily to run the crack and/or undo protection actions like quarantining the crack exe file.
I’ve never downloaded from this site before, but it was linked from the reddit piracy megathread so it’s probably legit.

Krita is good. I have no idea if it’s an appropriate replacement for all or most of Photoshop’s use cases, but it’s been a pretty damn good replacement for frozen-in-development-hell-for-a-quarter-century-and-desperately-needs-a-new-name Gimp.
I have gimp, but as someone that is used to paint.NET I find it so difficult to use.
I know there’s a Linux editing software that copied paint.net right down to the same exact UI, but I’m blanking on the name. And it’s not Krita/Gimp. I remember it was something else.
Literally all my college professors struggle with Adobe’s PDF reader since it bombards you with pop-ups and terrible UI design. It’s depressing to watch.
I had to download Acrobat in order to use a proprietary feature a couple months ago. The process to start a free trial, download the creative suite installer, run the installer, open the suite, find Acrobat, download Acrobat, figure out how where the proprietary tool was, figure out how to use the tool, and finally, uninstall it all — it took me like 30 minutes. And I consider myself good with computer.
Adobe is beyond bad. It’s a farce
NAPS2 can do a lot of what Acrobat does, and it’s cross-platform and open-source. And unusually for cross-platform open-source, it has a really great interface. It’s easy to teach.
Also I just noticed that if you go to their website the way they market Photoshop is so depressing. Not a single thing aimed at artists, it’s all catered towards businesses.
“For your BUSINESS! FOR YOUR BUSINESS!”
That’s honestly something I noticed too. So many services simply assume you’re a business owner. There is nothing left that’s by working class, for working class.
It’s disgusting that Adobe knows it’s a Monopoly and then decides “nah, we’re a luxury product now! No poors allowed!”
On top it all, the only reason Photoshop is famous is because of artists. They pay them back by ignoring them as a customer base as shilling the same AI that steals from artists.
Marx has to have a vocabularly term for this, porky really does sell people back their own services.

The only reason social media makes money is because of the content artists share, youtube videos made, things like that. Yeah, you can monetize it but there’s still a lot of enshittification that happens regardless

A more blatant example should be the housing crisis, especially in cities. The reason San Francisco rent is so high is because of the people of San Francisco, who have made such a place so valuable by their labor, amenities, culture, and also not being as racist as Texas. They’re literally getting punished for their “services” being so valuable.
