So I’ve been completely out of the waters for years but the way things are nowadays I have to sail again the high seas.

But to where?

Are there any general purpose torrent search engines like there used to be?

This sub has a megathread that has a list of trusted sites for general use and specific categories. It also has sites for direct download if you prefer it

Public TPB AMD YTS are fine IMO.

Private Torrentleech covers most. Also, Avistaz network.

I just use the qbittorrent “search” feature. Add some of the search plugins for different sites that you can find when you open the search options.

*Arrs are nicer, but a lot to setup imo. qbittorrent you just download, open it when you need it, and then you’re done with it. If you don’t torrent a lot, it’s more time-efficient.

Usenet and the arrs.

Look up trash guides I’d also suggest picking up the nzb360 app.

I run a home server off of a n100 box… the nzb360 app helps me manage content. So much so that I rarely login to one of the *arrs.

nzb360 is gold! Ill also add overseer. UI is sleek and content discovery is super convenient. plus easy to share with friends and family.

Nowadays nzb360 is just my admin dash. But content adding and discovery happens on overseer.

Agreed. I used to run overseer, but I don’t host content for folks outside my home anymore. So I #'d it out of my compose yml. Lol

If I ever get the ability to serve content to folks again I’ll probably rehost overseer again.

But good call out!!

lol, the #'d part game a good shuckle. That too familiar commenting on a compose file!

And makes sense. Tho not sure if you ever used the watch listing feature? Been nice to do that on the Discover page of plex and have stuff just auto download.

Anyways, guess this morning I’m feeling like an overseer envangelist 😅

Usenet and the Servarr apps will cover any movies or tv shows you want to watch. I use Jellyfin to stream it to my TV, and Jellyseer for finding shows to watch.

You can run it all on your PC via Docker, or on a NAS if you have one. You can even set up Jellyfin to delete media you’ve already watched, so the whole process is pretty much automated besides telling it the shows you want with Jellyseer.

Also, use the Trash guides to set up the Servarr apps. This is a must.
