I’ve been busy with !loops@midwest.social since that’s been seeing a lot of activity. The queue is up to almost the end of February, posting every 30 minutes. If you think that’s too much, you should see how much I don’t post 😄
I’ve been particularly worried and stressed about the fall of the USA…I voted for Harris, expecting deranged and cruel shenanigans from Trump. Welp, a lot of his voters are realizing that they made a bad choice. I am trying to stay calm by writing letters to my representatives and signing petitions. Keeping up the opposition is the only way these fucks might be careful. Also, trying to play video games in order to decompress from this madness which is going on in the USA.
This is the way. Do what you can, which actually helps with the nerves bc then you KNOW that you participated.:-)
Agreed, it does help to participate in the way one is able. As a chronically ill person, it’s often from at home and online; this matters, as participation and showing one’s opposition can matter regardless if it’s in person or not.

I think most of the things in U.S. news this week have been distressing:
- Trump signs order that seeks to ban transgender athletes from women’s sports
- US Postal Service briefly halts packages arriving from China and Hong Kong
- In shock announcement, Trump says U.S. wants to take over Gaza Strip
- Trump administration puts on leave USAID staff globally in dramatic aid overhaul
- Trump says he will cut off funding to South Africa over land ‘confiscations’
- Trump to create religious office in White House, target ‘anti-Christian bias’
Conservatives would just say I have TDS, but the effects of the executive actions in this country impact me and people I know directly.
I had to have conversations with a trans friend of mine where I explained she can no longer get her passport updated with the correct gender marker, and the state won’t issue a state ID with the correct gender marker, so now she has no way to travel by air without outing herself (either she will have to renew her state ID to get RealID, or she will have to get a passport - either case the ID will have the wrong gender marker). This is obviously distressing in itself, but especially in the context of anticipated persecution when that travel will become more necessary.
It really can’t be overstated how badly this impacts my life - I am being forced to relocate after settling and making plans to stay where I am the rest of my life. It’s not even clear that moving to another state will be sufficient at this point, and it’s unclear what the risks of leaving the country will be.
And that’s just me, there are so many other people that are impacted even worse than I am. It’s hard for me to think about right now. I really just have to not think about everything going on, to maintain a distance from reality.
It’s been lame, ngl. Having issues at work, stressing out about the deluge of garbage happening politically, feeling totally out of control of my mental health and like I have no recourse to address the spin out (single, no friends, isolated antisocial weirdo, not even a therapist b/c no insurance and not wealthy enough to afford out of pocket).
I feel your pain but i cant even imagine being in your situation. Things are so crazy and you arent crazy for feeling stressed out. I still believe the heart of your nation is good even if the current administration does not reflect that. The good people will get back in control.
That’s the odd part: there’s a lotta really good people here, and I know it sounds odd, but a lot of what’s happening is BECAUSE of kind-hearted people… who nonetheless are simply so very, very dumb. :-P What manner of idiot would put us in charge of ourselves…? :-P
It’s gonna be an extremely wild ride before they wake up though:-(.
Yeah its good people who have been clearly mislead and poisoned by propaganda.

All good over here. Busy week but the jam was great! Cheers!
