My furnace went out again, which sucked. I pay the utility company every month for a service that makes it their problem though, and they fixed it again. They’ve replaced enough parts in it at this point that I’m wondering how long until I’ve ship-of-theseus’ed my way to a new furnace.

Oh, man, that’s huge! I’m sorry you’re dealing with it, but finishing chemo is such a great thing when it’s necessary in the first place.

Our President posted a picture of himself in a crown, with the caption “long live the king” from an official government account and we all just went along like it wasn’t a red flag the size of Chy-na. So, pretty fucking terrified and confused, if I’m honest.

Honestly seems like exactly the kind of thing our second amendment was created for. Only he’s not a monarch, he was elected, and still has a huge faction of moronic supporters somehow.

This is the key. Behind Musk is Trump, behind him is We The People (e.g. if Trump disappeared then JD Vance would simply step in, or Donald Trump Jr, Desantis, Ramaswamy, Rubio, etc.), behind them is social media, and thereby Putin, and after him is climate change that we cannot afford to ignore while trying to get our house in order.

Perhaps this is why the Fediverse is so crucial to help stay independent of knowing only what “they” want us to know. Although so far the tools are only developing extremely slowly, and the vast majority of people seem to prefer e.g. the pretty Bluesky over the likes of Mastodon, Lemmy, Friendica, etc. And from the perspective of trying to find info on topics not related to which Linux distro to pick or casual chatting, I can see why: the content creators choose elsewhere more often than here.

But we do what we can to try to move forward as best we can.

Confusing. I work for the government and we keep getting weird notices and contradictory updates that threaten everyones job.
