Sorry probably nothing for the pro’s on here but man, I am so excited to climb off of the macOS on this old MacBook Air 2015 and breathe new FOSS life into it.

My brother and father have been using Blender 3D for years and my sister got her first job as a designer using Inkscape!

So here’s to a “mint-y” fresh Linux MacBook Air! :-D

Don’t worry about it being “nothing” for the seasoned Linux people (not that I think of myself as an expert by any means)! With the exception of some pretentious assholes, I think most of us are just happy to see people embracing Linux and trying out new things. It’s great that you’re here. :) To echo another comment on here, don’t get discouraged when something inevitably goes wrong and you have to spend a long time troubleshooting! Happens to all of us, especially when you’re new. The good news is there’s a big community here to help you.

I’ve been using Linux daily since 2007 (Feisty Fawn), and Mint (now Debian Edition) has been my go to for the last 10 years.

Just as a FYI for privacy minded folks:

Balena reportedly phones home the name of the image your burning and the make of your USB stick:

It doesn’t matter that it’s nothing big to us.

It matters that you’re excited. And you’re moving in the right direction. :)

Just don’t get discouraged when something goes wrong, haha

Is that one of the first Macbook Airs? If so my mom has been running that with Linux Mint for years and years as well! 😸
