The gusanos from my country love to visit the USA.

And with visit I mean Miami, Disneyworld, New York, LA and, maybe, San Francisco. They love the “cheap” stuff they can buy there (clothes, tech), take photos of the places they see in movies (thanks, Hollywood propaganda), and they come back to tell you: “That is a civilized country for civilized people, like me of course, unlike our barbarian country with barbaric people”.

With that I don’t mean that yankeeland doesn’t have beautiful places (like the ones you said). But the people from my country who can travel (growing smaller by the day), and that choose USA for their visit, usually are upper class who love their Hollywood movies and hate the fact that they were born in a “third world” country.

Anyone who visits Hollywood should immediately realize the US image is pure propaganda. That place gets worse every year, with just increasing amounts of dirt, grime, homeless people, grifters, etc and decreasing amounts of its unique character and culture. It’s a place that tourists gather to spend their money and they still can’t bring themselves to spend the money to keep it nice, presentable, and livable. Meshwhile, multi-million dollar mansions surround it on the outskirts, not to mention the star studded movie premieres with expensive suits and designer dresses that gather there a few events every year.

It’s a testament to the downsides of capitalism and the atomization of society.

Most likely the white or ‘half’ white descendants of colonizers; the indigenous populations of Latin America suffer because of them. Evo Morales was from the indigenous population and it took having him in government for indigenous people in Bolivia to be allowed to work in government; the white government that overthrew him, surprise surprise, referred to the indigenous population as Satanists.

The history of the persecution of the indigenous peoples of Latin America is horrifying. Absolute cruelty for cruelty’s sake was visited upon them.

Oh yeah, the west coast is pure gold (laugh), and it’s a shame such a work of beauty is occupied by the great satan.

Our food is really good, too. We have everything from all over the world and then some. One complaint I’ve heard about visiting Germany, for example, is there’s nothing but German food. The US has German food, but also Italian, French, Chinese, Thai, Ethiopian, Columbian, etc.

Some of our major cities can also be a lot of fun. There’s a bunch to see in Seattle and Washington DC, even if you don’t want to go to historic sites gooning themselves over founding fathers. New York and LA are impossible to experience in one sitting. You have to live in them for an extended period or make several visits.

Then again, you could just go visit China or India or France.

Germany is cosmopolitan, it has many types of food from all around the world and a pretty big group of vegans spicing things up. Though when th3y “Germanize” a dish it always makes it worse.

That’s nonsense. You actively have to inconvenience yourself to get German food, and it’s basically only eaten by boomers and tourists. On the other hand, you can get genericized Italian, Turkish or Vietnamese food basically anywhere that’s not a tiny village.

Admittedly, the quality is usually not the best.

I’m currently in Italy on vacation and it’s hard to have a bad meal here - usually in tourist hotspots, or like take-away.

The Beaverton kinda nailed it with this one: US campaign entices Canada tourists: “Come visit America and also maybe El Salvador!”

The ads list various popular American destinations: “Visit Disney World, the Grand Canyon, or –depending on the contents of your cellphone– maybe even extend your vacation indefinitely in the most terrifying penal colony El Salvador has to offer! Book now!”

Europe is boycotting, China is divesting. Sanctions are next I guess.

There’s no point in America’s history where the Statue of Liberty wasn’t a weirdly dystopian middle finger to actual immigrants but I imagine the irony is particularly obvious to would-be visitors now.

Westerners

I imagine most global Southerners were already sharply aware; white Westerners are only upset cause now they’re being treated like brown people
