A Department of Homeland Security (DHS) official confirmed Saturday that arrests of Democratic members of Congress “is definitely on the table” following a confrontation at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in Newark, New Jersey.

This statement comes after Newark Mayor Ras Baraka was arrested on Friday at the Delaney Hall detention center, sparking a dispute over what actually occurred during the incident.

A legal move to arrest officials would mark a significant escalation in confrontations between the Trump administration and Democratic officials. It raises questions about the separation of powers and congressional oversight authority, as members of Congress routinely conduct site visits to federal facilities.

… until it isn’t.

At least they’re not shooting protesters on sight yet; that was a thing at multiple points in US history.

If you read it closely (ie normally), our constitution says we should kill politicians who do this.

Umm… They’ve always done that, they just call it a riot when the cops start shooting.

Sometimes they even call it a riot before they start shooting instead of after the fact.

Ok, but it IS while these protests have been going on unless they’re trying to arrest people for future protesting under changed laws

Look at all the US citizens getting illegally detained without due process. Trump and his admin don’t give a iota of a fuck and they certainly won’t care about respecting protesters’ rights.

But err, protesting never accomplishes anything and just drives away us genuinely good people who want some Starbucks. You need to find a better way to get your point across without leaving your designated spot.

This bullshit is a long time coming.

Yea lol

I call them opportunities for the police to arrest your leadership and beat your heads in as examples.

Keep it up. You’re doing something by burning all that energy in this way instead of others. It’s not like it’s the fucking digital age. Jesus

Guys, call them fascists some more. I think my grandmother is almost on board. I know none of you ever intended to do anything like spread a palatable message. But the way these Republicans are acting, it’s causing normal people to take notice.

If you have to wear a mask to hide your identity, at what point do you say “maybe we’re the bad guys?”
