These are silly late codes for a game the size of BG3. That combined with the embargo being day of release, is not a great look. Probably mostly due to the scramble to get it out before starfield, but I am getting some Cyberpunk vibes from the whole thing…

It’s probably partly because of the hype. I refused to play Cyberpunk at launch because the hype was at such stratospheric levels I felt there was actually no way it could live up to it. BG3 right now feels very similar in that regard. With the way people have been talking it up, it basically has to come out the gates flawless. The start can’t be bad since we’d have known about it by now after 3 years of Early Access, but maybe the final 2/3rds or whatever isn’t as ready as they should be?

*possibly. There’s been no official word, (no word at all from anyone but this one freelancer) and public sign up for press copies went up an hour or so ago; unknown how quickly those are being processed, and it’s possible larger reviewers/creators have been sent keys separately from said sign up.
