- Prep: hot shower
- Brush: Muhle 39K527 Synthetic Silvertip Shaving Brush, Faux Ivory, 19mm
- Razor: Gillette Ball-end Tech K4 (1965)
- Blade: Lord Super Chrome (1)
- Lather: Stirling – Sharp Dressed Man - Shave Soap
- Post Shave: Stirling – Sharp Dressed Man - Post Shave Balm
I wasn’t planning on using this brush today, but as I was choosing my gear I accidentally knocked it off the shelf and directly into the trash. After cleaning it I figured it’s already wet, so why not just go ahead and use it.
First time using a Lord Super Chrome in my Tech. Super comfortable.
Eighteenth Day of TabOKtoberfest
- Brush: Dogwood Handcrafts Tabak Oridjinal
- Razor: Henkotsu Kamisori
- Lather: Mäurer & Wirtz – Tabac Original
- Post Shave: Mäurer & Wirtz – Tabac Original
- Fragrance: Mäurer & Wirtz – Tabac Original
Same setup as yesterday and I feel already a lot less awkward using the kamisori. Also, no neck stabbing today, which is nice, and overall DFS. The Stank Splash® feedback reminded me that I still have ways to go regarding a light hand with that tiny handle, but hey, we are making progress.
I think I’ve figured out the overall geometry of all three passes, but that thin handle makes controlling the kamisori difficult and a bit precarious. It feels like it’s always close to rolling between my fingers. I assume this could get better just with more practice, practice, practice, but I’ll first try to find some time to wrap that handle for better grip. Although I am a bit concerned that it is going to be difficult to avoid moisture on a wrapped handle.

Very impressive that you’re taking this on. There have to be positions where manipulation of the razor is more with fingers and wrist than we’re used to with a western straight. I would think some sort of handle wrap would be a requirement.

- Brush: Wolf Whiskers “Coffee & Cream” with DG B1
- Razor: Chiseled Face - Legacy Raw Titanium (#69)
- Blade: Personna Platinum Chrome (4)
- Lather: Maurer & Wirtz - Tabac - Soap
- Post Shave: House of Mammoth - Santa Noir - Aftershave
- Post Shave: House of Mammoth/Declaration Grooming - Cerberus - Liniment
Figured I’d do a day of Stank™ in solidarity with others here. Today’s lather was super great. Loaded plenty of soap, and maybe the base just jives well with this brush.
Today’s lather was super great
Tabac cannot be denied. Yes, the scent is polarizing, but the soap base is terrific.

- Preshave: Cold Water
- Brush: Semogue C3 Galahad Horse 🐎
- Razor: Thiers-Issard 188 7/8 ““Coq et Renard””
- Lather: Haslinger Calendula
- Post Shave: Floid The Genuine
- Post Shave: Nivea After Shave Balm
A quick 2 pass shave, with a surprisingly good result. The TI felt much better today, even with a less protective lather. Chromoxid++
I definitely get a reaction to the soap - which is a pity. If I use it from time to time, it should be alright.
Have good night!

2 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.
I’m enjoying rediscovering Black Watch. Wonderful scent, and I enjoy the Highland base which I think has its own character. I appreciate the effort these artisans make because I suspect it is difficult to do.
I haven’t used the Évidé Sonnant in a while. It gave me a comfortable and close shave. I don’t get much ringing from this one but it was convex honed by the seller, then honed by me on flat stones so, perhaps, the singing part of the edge is gone.
Black Watch++;
perhaps, the singing part of the edge is gone.
That seems a bit quick for getting through the belly of that blade. Was it singing more when you got it?
No, it has never been a singing blade which is quite weird considering its name.
