Don’t want to be THAT guy, but I paid for the premium version so I feel like that earns a bit of a pass.
Is Bean still being developed? I understand Steve had a case of Covid that took a while to get over, but he’s been almost nonexistent on Lemmy, in general, and there’s been little communication. Sure, I jumped and took the chance with my money on a newly developed app, but I was hoping the development would be further encouraged by the starting subscribers.
There hasn’t been an answer on my thread asking about 0.19 support which means, possibly, the app won’t even function in the near future.
Hoping to hear from the dev that things are picking back up again.
I wanted to jump in on this thread and drop you an update as Steve’s business partner.
We’re very aware that development on Bean has become stagnant. Some of you may or may not know that we run a 2 person development studio and are currently trying to fulfil some other briefs as they fast approach their deadlines. This has left Steve working on Bean either in his evenings and/or weekends and as some can appreciate, there comes a time when we all just need to get away from the screen and take a breath of fresh air.
Our love for Bean and it’s potential has not be sequestered, we’re determined to keep pushing this app forward for all to enjoy. We love all who have put faith in us and subscribed to Bean, we appreciate your patience but ask just to bare with us a little longer whilst we get our ducks in a row.
Being completely transparent, the largest of our briefs has a due date for the end of October, we then see our workload drop by half and hope it is at this point we can get Steve back onto Bean and working through the growing list of requests, bug fixes and features. In the meantime, we will of course jump onto anything which stops the app from functioning, this hopefully will include the new release by Lemmy.
As someone who stalks this thread from the shadows, I know Steve is still extremely grateful for the following and I want to thank you all again for your patience and passion for this app.
Yeah, I’m in the same boat. The app has lots of potential but I kinda regret putting my eggs in that basket seeing how development seems frozen
Thanks for making this post, I was planning to do it myself at some point. I paid for a lifetime plan and was beginning to worry a bit, it wasn’t exactly cheap.
